Forks, why Forks?! Oh yeah, her father lives here. Seventeen-year-old Isabella Swan, or Bella, moves from Phoenix, Arizona to Forks, Washington, to live with her father, Charlie. There is nothing she would like more than to journey back home to Phoenix. This dismal little town that sees little to no actual sunlight is all but lovely. It is dreary and more often than not cold and unwelcoming, why would she want to be here? Her first days of school are terrible, things are happening and she can’t really explain them nor does she think she even understands them. There are these people at the High School, they are, well, to be blunt, they are glorious! They do not look like any human she has seen before! They are beautiful and one of them looks at her often. His name is Edward Cullen. Bella quickly becomes intrigued with the Cullen’s, especially the exquisite Edward Cullen. She watches him and his ‘family’ closely, trying to see what it is they have going for them that makes them so wondrous.
At first, it would seem that Edward hates her, but eventually, Bella deduces that Edward does not hate her, but instead stays away from her to save her own life, why, because he is a blood sucking vampire. There is something about him that Bella can not only not explain or hope to understand, but shake. There is something in him that not only makes her wish to be closer to him, but to never leave his side. As the tension rises between them the realize that they might indeed be falling in love with each other, but as a group of vampires starts honing in on the couple, people end up dead, tensions rise, and hearts just might be broken. There is no telling what will happen as Bella works to figure out the reasons for why this is happening to her, ward of the high school boys who seem to fawn over her, work out the feelings that are swirling through her heart, decipher right from wrong in a world so full of the unknown that she can’t help but drown in it.
To make matters worse is does indeed seems that the Cullen’s are not the only vampires in the small and sleepy town of Forks. A new family comes to the town, the Creed’s. Who are these mysterious vampires? Why do they wish to live here? Did the Cullen’s not already have enough issues with Jason and his group? Was there not enough tension between Bella and Edward? Could there really be more? Perhaps most importantly, what does Sylvia Creed want with Edward?
Whatever is happening, the only thing known is, it is time to say Goodbye - to the sun.
