Emmett Cullen walked into the boys locker room with a bag slung casually over one shoulder. His strides were long and casual as he headed into the locker room. There were a few other boys already in their but, he paid them no attention as he made his way toward the last alcove of lockers and began to get changed. His possesions were carelessly thrown into the locker and he took care to not to slam the door too harshly. The bell rang and a few stragglers ran in, trying not to be late. Emmett however was already changed.
Emmett walked slowly out of the locker room and into his assigned position to stretch, as if he needed to. Though gym class tested his control most, it was hard not to use full force sometimes, it was Emmett's favorite class. He may not have been entirely free with himself but, it was refreshing to get out and have a little fun. It was always fun to see the shocked expressions on the faces of the new freshman the first time they ever watched him play a sport. It would have amazed them more if they could seee how strong Emmett was when he wasn't holding back.
Still, for the sake of keeping the family secret, Emmett had to be careful. He always had to be in control of his strength. It was much easier to hide the talents of the rest of the family but, Emmett still wouldn't trade. He liked being the strongest. Soon, the rest of the gym class filtered through the gym doors and interupted his musings.
As a class, the teacher forced them to stretch. It was tedious and Emmett barely paid attention. The day's activity spiked his interest however. Dogdeball. A slow grin spread across Emmett's face at the thought. Two captains were chosen by the teacher while Emmett considered the posibilities. There were a few boys who were going around lately claiming they would be able to take Emmett on. Now would be there chance. His grin changed to a mischivious smirk as he looked up to the captains and waited to be called for a team.

Peyton may be one of the girl who didn't loathe physical education. She really didn't see the big deal, the teacher didn't even care as long as you moved around; not stand there like an idiot. But Peyton did have her lazy days. Today wasn't one of them as she squeezed through the locker room doors and marched over to her locker. Usually, she took the time to actually dress out, but today she was running late and instead slipped her sweats over her jeans and pulled the huge P.E shirt over her head. Since Peyton stood at a simple 5'3" the shirt was big and her sweats were loose. Oh well. She didn't care. Who was there to impress?? She slipped out the door at the same moment that her teacher did and proceeded to do the exercises.
Exercises were tedious to Peyton, but without them, she'd be on the floor in pain. So she did without complaint. And then she was picked for captain. Great. She stood up with a sigh and made her way over, then looked over her options of a team. Half the people were too competitive to listen to a girl captain and the other half didn't care about the game. She bit her lip and placed her hands on her hips as she weighed her options. Of course, it shouldn't matter much, it was only P.E. But Peyton was going to pick carefully for some reason. There were a few whispers that reached her ears and she looked for the source. Of course it was a group talking about who they could beat. Peyton smirked and pointed at a rather large boy, "Cullen." She called out.
Yes, she was betting on him. Not the average boys she knew. The rest of the team was picked out without as much care, but still catious. Then as the teacher was writing down names, Peyton turned, "Hey, i'm peyton." She introduced. She knew the Cullens didn't socialize very much, and that was okay, at least she tried, right?

Emmett was surprised to be called first. It was no secret that Emmett was an asset to any team but, most people picked their friends first. Given how small the town was, most students had established their cliques in first grade. Though finally it seemed someone decided to look past all that.
The captain who chose him was a girl Emmett had seen around school. She was in his grade, her name was Peyton if he remembered correctly. Emmmett didn't pay much attention to everyone but, it was hard not to learn the names of everyone in school. It seemed her chocie had surprised some of the others. as well. Some of the students were used to being picked first and a bit offended things had changed. It only made Emmett's smile widen as he walked over to stand behind Peyton.
She introduced herself as if he wouldn't have known her. The polietness of the gesture surprised him momentarily. Not only had she picked him first but, it would have seemed she was trying to befriend him. Emmett was used to most people staying away from his family. When they had first come back to Forks, many of the students who didn't know that the Cullens had been to Forks had tried to become friends with the newcomers. But, since the novelty had worn off, most stayed away. Emmett had to give the girl in front of him credit for trying to break down two barriers in one gym class
"I know who you are. And you clearly know that I am Emmett Cullen." he told her. His smile at the thought of a good competition was plain on his face. Peyton picked the rest of the team and, Emmett could see her thought process behind most of the choices. It was clear she was trying to build the best possible team. However, he could also see that she was trying not to take all the best players. true, most of them were on his team but, a few had made it to the other team. that meant it was going to be a good game which pleased Emmett. He hated when things came too easily.

Peyton offered a smile; of course she knew who Emmet was. All the Cullens in fact. They were talked about as much as Bella Swan was. Peyton always tried not to roll her eyes at the rumors and quiet, jealous whispers. Sure, Peyton use to be like that, whispering about other people and mentally throwing daggers at any girl she didn't like. But now she matured and it wasn't her 'hobby' anymore. She went past all that and just decided to be more laid back than other girls and boys here. It wasn't hard since there weren't really new people to talk about all the time. Just the same people doing a few things. No more fun and excitement. Then came new kids; Cullens and Miss Swan. Peyton was curious, but the rumor mill wasn't her liking anymore. But she did feel a twinge of jealously whenever she saw Bella with the Cullens. No one else was able to break the barrier with them. This is the one thing she felt a little competitive in; befriending the Cullens. Or at least one of them. If she could do that, then it would make Bella less of the sudden 'queen' she was whispered to be. Okay, so Peyton was jealous. She'll admit it.
Peyton shook her head and move aside thoughts that would distract her from the game. Now she was being silly. She gave Emmett another smile, seeing as to which in her reverie her smile had turned to a small frown, "The game should be interesting." She noted. She wasn't sure they'd be playing today though; the teachers had a tendency to go over the rules, which took up a whole class. And annoyed Peyton. You'd think all the kids knew the rules by now.... She looked over the team that she had chosen and felt satisfied, it wasn't going to be easy games. She gleed. And she became excited when she saw the teacher roll out the cart of balls. She turned her attention away and looked back at Emmett. Emmett, what an interesting name.
"This may sound a bit weird but I like your name. It's not common." She shrugged with a small laugh. Peyton admired names that were uncommon, because then it wasn't hard to remember it. Which is why she loved her name... she didn't know of any other Peyton here at Forks High. Just another unique thing.

Emmett watched the expression on Peyton's face change. he wondered what she was thinking. now matter how annoying Edward and his "talent" were, there were times Emmett wished he could read the thoughts of others. Thse times were rare but, they did exist. Emmett couldn't understand the sudden change in Peyton's mood.
Then, the girl returned to smiling. Emmett felt that would never understand high school girls and their moods. One second they were happy the next second they were crying. He shook his head, not bothering to try to figure out what had upset PEyton, she seemed fine at the moment and Emmett didn't feel like getting involved in more drama than he needed to. It wasn't as though after listening to Peyton's problems Emmett would get the oppertunity to go fight a werewolf or something.
Besides, she was happy enough for the moment. Emmett was content to simply start the game. maybe the thought of listening to the rules for the billionth time was all that had irked her. He had been relieved when it became apparent that they would not have to suffer yet again through the rules lecture. Emmett just wanted to play the game. He was getting pumped just thinking about it. Then PEyton interupted his dwelling on the game.
"This may sound a bit weird but I like your name. It's not common."
Emmett's laugh soon joined Peyton. "Thank you. It was popular where my parent lived when they were deciding on names." he said with a grin and chuckled at his own private joke. How could Peyton know that Emmett had been named over 90 years ago? "Though, I have to say, It's nice to not be named Mike or Brian like half the other kids around here." he said with a shrug. "Your name is pretty unique as well. I bet you feel the same way I do. It's nice to not have to look up everytime someone calls Jessica or Katie because nearly everyother girl here has one of two names."

Peyton couldn't help but smile wide at the mention of her name. Yes, that was exactly right. She loved her names since it was so uncommon. She would hate to have to look up when someone called her name only to find out they weren't calling for her. Luckily, that never happened to her. aha. She thought about his answer; about his parents, "Where'd your parents grow up?" She asked. She didn't know his secret of course, how would she? The supernatural was something unrealistic, right? Plus, it was simple curiousity that caught hold of her. Curiousity usually grabbed Peyton by the wrists and dragged her along till she got into trouble. And they only waited again for another oppurtunity to get her in trouble again. Yes, those usually mixed in with Peyton's life. But she didn't mind it; it made Forks seem a little less dull at the least.
Peyton watched as her teacher set up the court and she felt her heart rush for a moment; Game time. She turned to Emmett, "See ya on the court." She called out. Then she stood off to one side, not bothering to run and get a ball. They'd fly over the line anyway, she'd just have to wait and catch one. It didn't take long, of course; Peyton jogged up and picked up a ball, dodging another one, before throwing the ball over the line again, aiming for one of the boys on the other team. Peyton found dodgeball to be a tedious sport, but it was worth playing, since it got energy out. And she preferred that compared to being wound up after school, stuck at home. Which is why she picked up skating; to get rid of any energy that wound her up. Or stressed her out.
It was a little while after the game started that Peyton was hit by a ball on her arm. She let out a sigh and dropped the ball that she held. And following the rules, she walked to the side lines and waiting to be pulled back in; by a team mate catching a ball before it hit the ground. She watched her team, score and miss a few, but that was normal. What she couldn't get enough of though was the way Emmett moved about, he never faltered. Was it normal for someone to be able to move like that? Glide over the surface with such ease? She was too caught up in watching him, and wondering, that she didn't notice the fact that she was able to get back in the game.

Emmett grinned as the teacher rolled out the cart filled with balls. He knew that he could beat the other students to the cart but, where would the fun have been in that? It was much more fun to see the other students try to hit him. For whatever reason, they always forgot how skillfully Emmett was able to dodge their throws. It was amusing to watch their expressions when they attempted to use a rapid fire technic to get him out. The opposing team threw each balls at him in quick sucession thinking he eventually wouldn't see one of them coming. He always saw the balls and dodged most, catching some.
He held one in his hands and strode up to the line, using the ball in his hands to deflect others. Then he took aim, the other teams captain and fired. Emmett was careful to reign in his strength, he did not want to hurt the boy, just take him out of play for the moment. That was the object of the game.
As the game went on, Emmett became consummed with moving across the floor and getting out as many people as he could. Soon 3/4 of the opposing team was out. Some of his teammates were as well but, Emmett continued to catch the ball allowing them to come back in. It was perfectly natural to him to glide across the floor. He wasn't even aware of the way he moved anymore. As he grabbed another ball, he saw Peyton sitting out. That simply wouldn't do. Emmett then decided to work harder on catching the balls rather than dodging or deflecting. Eventually, one of his teammates caught a ball and Peyton was able to come back in. He didn't understand why she hadn't moved back on the court. She appeared to be lost in thought. As Emmett tried to figure out why she had not reentered the game, a ball can dangerously close to hitting him. He decided to focus on the game and worry about Peyton later.

Peyton finally snapped out of her thoughts and saw she was able to get back in the game. She jumped up and grabbed a ball from the floor and launched it at the other team, not even aiming, just hoping it landed on someone. She made her way over to Emmett, without noting so. The thought of his grace was still on her mind. It showed in her throws that she was little distracted, but she didn't really care. Just wondering how someone could be so graceful with a frame like his. After all, he wasn't the twiggest person. But enough about that, Peyton soon found herself in place near Emmett, a few feet away, "You're really good at getting around the court...." She muttered to him. She dodged a ball, stepping closer to Emmett without noticing again.
It wasn't until she actually bumped into him. Or at least close to it. He moved to quick it was hard to tell wether or not she did bump into him. What the hell. She stood in shock for a moment, blinking and trying to get her scattered thoughts together. What was going on? She dodged a ball just in time, and out some distance between herself and Emmett. She tried not to notice the way he moved from the corner of her eye, but it was like she was hypnotized. But it didn't work. Another ball narrowly missed her again and she decided that she needed to move about to think about the game only. She side stepped, throwing balls to the opposing team and dodging other balls till she was a few more feet away. She hoped he didn't notice; it wasn't like she didn't want to be near him, but seeing how he moved had her curious and awed. Peyton felt stupid right about now.

Rosalie was aimlessly wandering the halls again. She had study hall this period and she usually spent her time watching Emmett from the gym window. She loved to watch him face up against the other students, it was almost like he was a God amung men, which in all reality he was. She chuckled silently at the thought of him, God-like, maybe in a Toga and a Laurel Crown, she shuddered at the thought of him like that, it was rather fetching, the picture in her mind at that moment. She would have to get him to try it sometime.
Rosalie slid to the normal spot she had chosen a few times ago and peered into the window. Her jaw immediately clenched as she watched a girl whom she knew to be Peyton West gawk at Emmett from afar. Then she found then talking. She felt a low growl rumble deep in her throat as she watched everything go on. Her eyes slid back and forth with a darkness in them as everything continued to unfold. Suddenly she was at the door of the gym, her eyes tinted crimson, she could kill her, nothing would be seen, the girl would just drop dead. She would destroy the girl for ever looking at Emmett...
Resolve flashed through her as she looked to Emmett, how would he take it? She shook her head and opened to door, sauntering in with likely a little unneeded grace and poise, her soft blond strands flowing behind her as she sauntered over to the Coach. She smiled brightly with innocence laced in her voice. "Coach... The office needs to see Emmett... I was sent here to retrieve him." She said coolly, her voice sliding through the gym slightly. The coach nodded and motioned for her to get him, he blinked a few times, it was slightly amusing to Rosalie.
Rosalie nodded and turned on her heal, making her way over to Emmett. It was almost as if the people threw the balls around her, never touching her as she moved through the small mass of people. When she got to Emmett she rested her hand on his arm, a soft and sensual smile on her lips. She leaned in close, her lips barely grazing his ear as she whispered to him, making sure to bring their proximity closer to each other. "We are needed in the office Emmett." She then, quickly and without hesitation nipped at his ear with her teeth, before leaning back and smirking at him, her hand sliding to his as she turned to walk away, not even acknowloging Peyton.

Emmett continued to pick off the other team. It was easy for him to throw the ball but, not so easy to keep focused. He heard the heartbeat pf every person in the room. The hearts beating louder and faster with adreneline. It would have been so easy for him to lose control but, he knew that wasn't an option.
He heard Peyton move closer. Was she going to use him as a human shield? Whatever she was up to, Emmett wasn't worried, he was enjoying the game far too much. As he took out the other teams captain, he heard her speak.
"You're really good at getting around the court...." Peyton told him.
Emmett nodded to acknowledge the compliament but, did not turn to face her. He was too focus on the game. There were two balls headed toward them. Emett knew the one would not hit him and quickly dodged the other. It looked like he had bareely moved but, he knew he had brushed against Peyton as he moved. It wasn't truely a big deal, likely she hadn't even noticed. It was then a familiar scent hit him.
Rosalie
He turned to face her as she walked toward him, always toward him, something he still marvelled at. Unfortunately he was distracted by a bal aimed at his head and couldn't watch her cross to the teacher anymore. Emmett knew Rosalie had a free period, maybe she was goingto play with them. It would mean some actual competition for him then. Unfortunately, he could hear the conversation and knew that she wouldn't be playing.
As he got another kid out, he felt her at his side. Her hand rested lightly on his arm and he turned to see her smile. Emmett loved to see Rosalie smile and momentarily his disappointment was forgotten. He crouched down to make it easier for her to whisper in his ear, though, he could hear her fine. It was best for the sake of appearances.
"We are needed in the office Emmett."
The frown on his lips was turned into a grin before it was even completely formed when she nipped at his ear. Her hand was in his as she started to walk away but Emmett did not move. It seemed no one else could either, the opposing team had stopped trying to hit him and were instead watching the exchange between himself and Rosalie. He pulled her back and grabbed her other hand. "But, Rose, can't I finish the game first?" he asked sounding like a petulant child. Half of it was acting. He truely wanted to finish the game but wanted to be with her more. "Can't we stay and then go?"

Peyton's attention was swept away when someone of unnatural beauty came into the Gym. And what a surprise, she knew Emmett. Peyton dodged a ball just in time as the corner of her vision caught the girl talking to Emmett. She moved with the same grace. Peyton felt jealous; why were some people specially gifted with beauty? Peyton let out a small sigh when she felt the rubber ball hit her side. She was out again. She picked up the ball and passed to a team mate before stepping out of the lines again, stepping beside the teacher and watching the teams score. Peyton felt a small wave of panic as the girl started to pull Emmett away; emmett was her best player right about now, she didn't want the game to end without him! But she relaxed a second later when Emmett seemed to have protest.
Peyton was half tempted to march over and stick in a word or two, but something stopped her. One look at Emmetts girl and peyton knew she didn't like to messed with. Peyton rolled her eyes; how great.

She felt herself be stopped, though she was not leading or anything in the first place, she knew Emmett, she knew his needs. A soft smile was already on his lips. He wanted to play, she knew it before he said it, before he even took her other hand. She looked into his eyes softly as he held her hands and her hearts. She listened silently, her eyes on him her senses on Peyton. She slid her fingers softly along the cool skin of Emmett as she listening to his pouting.
She could not help but chuckle and softly slide her hand out of his, only to rest it on her face, affection showing softly in her eyes. "Of course... I am sure we can wait for a few minutes." She said softly, she leaned forward and whispered softly in his ear. "Have fun... I'll be watching my love..." She kissed his cheek when she knew the Coach was not looking and she pulled away, her eyes never leaving him as she backed away and nodded softly. "I'll be waiting for you by the door." She then slid her other hand from his, her thumb sliding along the cool skin of his cheek before she turned to walk back to the sidelines.
In the time that she had spent talking to Emmett, Peyton had been hit and was now out. She could literally feel the girls eyes on them while she was speaking to him. She walked, no, floated, over to the side lines where she could comfortably watch Emmett enjoy himself. She was only a few feet from the door but she still had a good view of him, and a good side glance of Peyton if need be, though she felt no need to even look at her. Peyton was no threat to Rosalie... Emmett's cold heart was hers, no one else's.

Emmett grinned, pleased he could finish the game. His grin widened with her chuckle. He would have liked to see the chuckle turn into a true laugh but, something in her eyes told him it wouldn't. Just as he was about to ask what was wrong, he noted the affection also in her eyes. Seeing that made him forget everything else.
When the coach's attention was on the game, he felt her lips press softly against his cheek. Though her lips were cool, they left a warmth behind as she backed away toward the sidelines. When the period was over, they would go and find out what the office wanted them for; until then, Emmett would have his fun.
The moment he saw Rosalie reach the sideline, he glimpsed a dodgeball headed straight for him out of the corner of his eye. He turned quickly and caught it, sending a winning grin to the boy who had throw it to begin with. Emmett looked around and noted that a large number of his teammates had gotten out while he spoke with Rosalie and the oppenents team had a far greater number left. Well, Emmett had just taken the first step toward tipping the balance back in their favor, Peyton was allowed in again. "Out again West?" he called and caught another ball.

God, did the whole Cullens family just glide about, rubbing it into people's faces? ugh. Peyton tried hard not to roll her eyes and kept her attention on the game. Her team was slipping, but she guessed that now Emmett had his head back in the game they'd score up again. Peyton simply waited to be placed in again. When Emmett made a remark Peyton stuck her tongue out at him, "Psh, no. I was taking a mere break." She laughed, catching a ball before lauching it back over the line. When Peyton twisted a certain way she could see Rosalie still there watching Emmett play ball. Peyton didn't think twice about to except to ask why people did silly things when they dated. Peyton.. wouldn't know really. Oh well.
Peyton was glad when only half of the other team remained when almost all of her team made it back in the game. Someone would win betting money after this game. Peyton let out a sigh and waited for a ball to come here way. She was focused on getting out the team leader

Emmett saw Rosalie watching from the crner of his eye. Now especially he wanted to do well. It wasn't as if she would be impressed by him getting the entire other team out, with the advantages she knew he had, she likely would have teased him for getting out even once. However,, there was a small old fashioned part of him that needed to display his strength, to show off in front of her.
He heard Peyton's comment when she came back in and laughed. "A break from what, this? Is it too much for you then?" he teased and caught another ball. The other teams numbers were dwindling rapidly with Emmett focused again. He took aim and struck out the opposing team's captain yet again. 'Just leave it to me then West. I'll get 'em" he laughed.
