Riley walked through the streets of forks whistling a small tune to himself. He looked around as he moved and saw that there were lots of people all sitting around in the park talking to each other like lunch time at school. It was really quite a sight. He turned down a street and into the park. He stared around in utter disbelief. The park was lined with benches and flower gardens. In the very middle was a pond and in the middle of the pond stood a giant statue of a women. It was carved completely out of stone. Riley just couldn't believe it. 'Wow!' he thought as he casualy strolled in. He moved closer to the statue and stared at the eyes. "So real...those eyes...they look so real..." He murmered to himself.
Behind him there was a small water feature with a statue of a dolphin spitting water in the middle surrounded by stone benches. He turned around and sat on one of the benches. He picked up his bag and opened it. He pulled out his book about Werewolves and Vampires and began to read. He always felt like a vampire or a werewolf was watching him when he read the book but this time something was really watching him. He turned around to see one the other side of the water feature a beautiful girl. She had short brown hair and bright brown eyes. He was in a trance. He had never seensuch beauty before. Was his some kind of trick? He put the book away and zipped up his bag. He slung it over his shoulder and walked over to the girl. He sat down next to her and turned on his best smile. 'Cheesey much?' he thought. "Hi I'm Riley i'm new here, What's your name?" he said softly and shyly. 'Oh great' he thought 'way to go Rye she already thinks your a total loser, i mean hel-lo who starts a convo like that GOD!'

Alice was making her way to go and see Carlisle at the hospital. He had something and Alice was to pick it up. Why? It gave her something to do really. But of course, he hadn't actually called for her to come get it yet. The handy thing with the sight seeing. She still had a while and better not to turn up unexpected when there were so many humans around. She she made her way through the park, just to see what was going on there. She walked past a lot of people from school, some turning and looking at her. Reasons. One, because people from school always saw her with Edward, Emmett, Rosalie or lately Bella. But she was alone now. And two, because being a vampire ... she had the most amazing beauty ever. Typical for humans to stop whatever they were doing and just stare. Alice didn't stop, she just kept on walking.
She stopped at the dolphin fountain, seeing someone reading a book. She saw from a distance the words 'vampire' or 'werewolf' written on the open pages of his book. She looked away a few moments before he turned to look at her. Spying was always something she had to stop doing. But that wasn't ever going to happen, she was a sight-seeing vampire for crying out loud. She could see out of the corner of her eye that he was looking at her. Before she could get up to walk away, he was up and over at her. Obviously a split second decision he had made. She looked at him. She felt she may as well be polite. "Hi Riley." she said softly. She hesitated before replying. "Alice." she said. She eyes darted to his bag where the book lie but she was looking straight back at him before he could notice.

Riley was still nervous but somehow got the courage to speak. "That's pretty name..." He had only thought it but before he knew it he had spoken the exact words to her face. 'Oh god' he thought' what HELL am I doing?!?'. He tried to change the subject but he was pretty sure it wouldn't work. "So, do you go to Forks high? I do...um.." he just stopped and left it there. He had just made the biggest loser of himself possible. He decided maybe it was best to leave. He stood up and dragged his backpack behind him once again until it was hooked over his shoulder again. As he did so he felt someone watching the bag. Something he hadn't noticed. He didn't really care he just wanted to leave the embarassment. Nothing else mattered at that moment in time. He turned away from her and lowered his head. He looked as if he might cry. He sighed to himself then turned around and looked at Alice again. "I'm sorry" He said. "You see i'm not very good at meeting new people, i get shy. I'm sorry if I freaked you out it's just that it's hard being the new kid and all." 'Oh God' he thought 'quit while your ahead' But he kept on talking. "I just wanted to try and meet some people you know but thats cool if you don't wanna be friends I suck with convosations anyway and um..." He really was making the biggest loser of himself but it wasn't his fault he was really shy!
He shut up after that and walked away. 'Oh God' he thought as he walked away. 'What am I doing this is so not happening why am I so shy!?!' He was so ashamed of himself. He had walked only 40 metres or so when he could have sworn a single tear was rolling down his cheek. 'Great' he thought. 'Now i'm crying what if anyone sees?' He was so embarassed he broke into a run so as to get out of there as soon as possible but it was too late. People had seen him and were staring and laughing for miles. There was no way this could ever be fixed. He was never coming back here again.

Alice looked at him. Her lips were persed together as she remained silent. She had to be careful with her sight seeing around a human. She couldn't just reply to whatever he said without waiting for him to actually say it. But she had experience with it. She'd been doing it for so long. Of course, she didn't answer his question on whether she went to Forks High or not, she was just waiting for him to walk off before turning back to talk to her again. As he then stood up, she stared at the bag. What was that book about? She couldn't see anything in the future. She couldn't see the pages of the book. She wanted a closer look. She then looked up at him as he turned around to look at her, her thoughts still stuck on the book. She listened to him, trying to act slightly confused and surprised. She waited until he fell silent for a moment before opening her mouth to speak. "Why be sorry over something that's perfectly normal with people? Everyone gets shy at times." she said. When he made the comment about if she didn't want to be friends it would be cool and all and her mind raced wildly with thoughts. For a human to have a book in his bag about werewolves ... and vampires ... that was just something that could cause trouble for Alice and her family.
She then just stood where she was. She was as still as a statue. Her eyes were the only thing that moved ... and the pretend breathing in case there was anyone watching. But no one was watching, she was alone. She watched as people watched Riley before they disappeared behind trees and walking off. She then looked back at Riley. Her eyes grew big and with that, she was running at her amazing vampire speed. Just as she arrived two meters behind him, he tripped over a tree root in the ground. She grabbed his arm, stopping him from falling, his head inches away from the tree he almost smashed into. Hey, Edward wasn't the only hero in the family. She pulled him back so he stood up right and looked at him.

As he ran Riley lost concentration on where he was going and found himself tripping over a tree root just the tears started streaming down his face. As his head was just inches from the tree he was about to collide with, he felt an almighty force grab hold of his arm and pull him back upright just before he hit the ground. He turned around suddenly to find out what it was when to his atonsishment he saw Alice standing there. 'Oh crap' he thought 'she has seen me crying im so done for'. Before he spoke he wiped his eyes with his sleeve and gulpped back the tears. His foot was now throbbing from hitting the tree which made it even harder to hold them back because it felt like he had broken his toe. "Where? What? How did you? You just saved me from endding up in hospital...but how did you get here so fast?" His mind was whirling in disbelief and pain. The truth was he didnt really care how shed done it he wanted to know why. He stared at her face and he lost it he couldn't help it. He was not going to hold back his emotions any longer. He burst into tears. The pain was unbearable and the embarassment just kept on getting worse. from then on he had no idea what to do. His tears just kept streaming down his face shinning in the sunlight against his face.
He couldn't stand anymore his legs felt like jelly and the pain was taking over. He fell over in a heap on the floor which only caused him more pain. "Ow my flipping foot!" He yelled as he hit the floor. He suddenly wondered how he was going to stand up again. But he remembered Alice. The pain was making him delirious. He looked up and saw Alice staring down at him then everything turned to black.

When it came to helping someone, it was usually Edward that was the helper. But Edward wasn't around. And his speed was going to be quick enough, especially if she was already right there, ready to grab him as he tripped. She looked at him, taking his sudden confused but desperate reaction calmly. She was like that. She took things calmly. She made it seem like she had been behind him the whole time. She looked blankly at him for a moment before responding. "I followed you when you walked off. My brother says i have the tendency to do that. I saw the root on the ground just seconds before you tripped, so i got hold of you and kept you upright. I figured, no one deserves to lie in a hospital bed." she said simply, with a shrug of her shoulders.
She stood stiffly as she waited for the next dramatic outburst to occur. As it did, her lips persed together as she looked down at him on the floor. "Urgh! My brother's usually the helpful one. They're not hurt if he helps. Obviously i have a lot to work on with that." she said, forming a smile to try brighten the moment. That was someone she always attempted to do, usually succeeding.

When Riley finally came to, Alice was still there. He looked at his watch. He'd only been out for 10 mintues. He sat up and the pain in his left foot kicked in. 'Dam it' he thought I was hoping it would all be gone by now.' He reached for his shoe and carefully pulled it off. the tip of his sock was stained red with blood. He removed his sock with great care as the pain seared through his body. "Ow ow ow ow" he exclaimed taking off his shoe to reveal the damage. He had ripped the toe nail halfway back and only twisted his toe. It was bleeding incontrolibly so he wrapped it with his non-blood stained sock and tried to stand up. The pain was insane trying to lean on it. Lucky for him there was a bench right next to him so it wasn't as hard as he had thought. As soon as he was sat on the bench he looked up at Alice.
Her brown eyes focussed on his foot. He looked at her for a while and then spoke. " Alice?" he said trying to get her attention. "Alice what the hell happened? How did you stop me from falling? God my foot kills..." Again he was embarassing himself in front of her. "Tell me Alice why did you help me?" The black out had obviously bumped his memory a bit. He couldn't remember what she had said. She was still starring at his foot. "Alice talk to me your really freaking me out..." He tried to stand up and walk away but the pain was too much to bear. When he sat down he realized that him moving had broken the conection between her eyes and his foot. He put his damaged foot up on the bench and did his best to clean it up. 'God dam' he thought. 'Why am I so clumbsy?'.

Alice looked at him. She stood as still as a statue as she waited for him to come through. When he did she looked down at him. She then took a couple of steps away from him, just moments before she pulled his shoe off. Her lips were tightly pushed together as she saw the bloody sock. She felt her body shaking for a moment, but not shaking so much that it was noticeable. She kept a few meters distance between them as he helped himself onto the bench. She wasn't thirsty of course, but it was still blood ... and the scent of it polluted her nose. She looked away as he examined his foot, determined to not think about the fact that blood was exposed. But that was hard to do. The smell was poisoning and her brown eyes became darker, close to black. She avoided eye contact with him and closed her eyes, feeling his eyes on her.
She then opened her eyes, still dark as she slowly turned and faced him. She looked at him. She glanced at his foot, feeling her body shake again. She stood silently, stiffly as she stared at his foot. After a few moments silence she forced herself out of the vampire trance and looked at him, finding her voice. "I told you. I followed you. I saw the root and got hold of your arm as you fell. I pulled you up so you wouldn't do more damage to yourself." she explained stiffly. "As for helping you, it's something my brother has been good at lately, helping people. I guess it's contagious." she said. She could tell he was about to ask why there was such a sudden distance between them once he revealed his foot. So she took it casually. "I'm sorry. I can't stand the smell of blood. It makes me sick. I'm staying back so i don't feint." she said. It was an excuse. She used that one because it reminded her of Bella. Bella feinted at the sight of blood ... so that's where she got the idea.

Riley's eyes stung from the tears he had cried before he blacked out. The salt had stayed in his eyes because he was unconsious. He rubbed his eyes trying to get the salt out. He looked up at Alice as she spoke. "Ok Alice don't get anoyed I didn't mean to upset you. I understand the blood thing I have a lot of friends that hate blood, just like you really..." He was becoming more close to Alice but decided not to push it. His convosation confidence had really improved. He got up off the bench and tried to walk around. The pain was becoming more bearable. The wound was still bleeding and he had put on the un-bloody sock to cover it up. "Alice" He said as he turned towards her. "Maybe we should go to the hospital, get this fixed?" He asked politely because the pain was starting to kick in again. He limped around a small section of grass trying to get his foot moving again. But jeepers it hurt! He yelpped with pain everytime he put it down. If only he had some form of crutches to get him to hospital without having to preasure on the injury...He stared into Alice's eyes. He thanked god for her or this situation would been a lot worse...
Riley brushed his hair back with his sleeve so that it wasn't in his face while he moved around. It was so uncomfortable and painful wearing one sock. He deciced to take him self to the hospital so he tried to hop around to get the pressure off but he kept stumbling and leaning on it making it all the worse. He got himself to the front gate without Alice and decided to sit down and take a break. The pain was so bad. He stared out at the street and thought. 'I wonder where I go from here?'

Alice looked at him. Annoyed? Her? There were only few things that annoyed her, and that sure wasn't one of them. And she wasn't upset ... just hiding something. When he mentioned he had friends who hate blood, Alice's mind quickly remembered the book in his bag. Her eyes swiftly darted and looked at the bag for a split second before looking back at him. She could hear the confidence in his voice. "Yeah, my brothers girlfriend hates blood too." she said. Probably another reason she wants to be one of us she added in her mind. She watched as he got up and tried to walk around. She looked at him as he mentioned the hospital. She nodded. "Yeah that's a good idea. My father's a doctor there." she said simply. Before she could offer to help guide him to the hospital, he was hopping in the direction to leave the park. She trailed along behind him. If he kept going like this, it would take an hour.
Alice looked at him as he stopped and sat down for a break. "You're gonna make it worse if you keep it up like that." she said, a little bit of a tease in her voice. That was just like her. After a while she became a lot more cheery and positive, like she always was. She stood in front of him, grabbing his arm and swinging it over her shoulder. "Here, i'll help." she said. She knew what he was thinking. You didn't have to be Edward to always know what others were thinking. She knew he was wondering how someone so small was able to carry him so well without him feeling the least bit heavy. She had a reason ready if he was to ask.

As he turned to face Alice he realized that she was already by his side. He stood up as she offered to help him. "Thanks" he murmered politely. He felt her arm pick his up and his arm was on her shoulder. The first thing he noticed was that she seemed to have no problem carring him. He seemed light to her. He could see it in her eyes. "Why are you able to carry me so well? You don't even look tired, it doesn't even seem like you find me heavy. I weigh like 80 pounds!" They held each others shoulders up as they walked along the street towards the hospital. "You do know where we're going Alice? Because I have no Idea." He asked.
He wanted to hear her voice again. It sounded so friendly now. He thought he made some connection to her. He thought about asking her out for a coffee sometime. He thought that it would be fun. He was bonkers about starbucks and in his opion who wouldn't be? The two continued their walk down the streets of forks together laughing and joking about the fall. A whole new convosation sparked. He thought it may not be best to get attached to her straight up incase something was already standing in his way. Eventually his emotions took control so he deciced to ask her out in his own special way. "So Alice, I was thinking..." He couldn't finish the sentence because they had arrived at the hospital already.
Half an hour later Riley was laying down in a hospital bed being fixed up. He deciced to finish his question. "So, Alice I was wondering, I'd like to take you out for coffee sometime as a thank you for all your help...I really owe you one." It was then there was a noticable change of atmosphere in the room.

Alice simply smiled. "Glad to help." she said. It was no big deal. No effort either. She looked at him. She gave herself a smirk as she saw what he was going to say. Her smirk grew when she looked at him as they worked. "Good question. You're a little heavy but nothing i can't manage. I suppose it's what happened when you're family act so macho tough that you have fun wrestling them." she said, with a grin. She laughed. "Of course i know where i'm going. My father works there. And you're new here, you're not expected to know much around here." she teased, with a sly grin on her face.
As they walked Alice was getting glimpses of future happenings. When she saw the one when he was going to ask her out, her body shook. Not in a good way either. That was just definitely not going to happen. She was a vampire. He was human. And plus, she had Jasper. Jasper was her one and only. Nothing was going to compete with what she felt towards Jasper, nothing!. Her lips persed together as he started to talk but she cut him off. "Ok, we're here." she said quickly, guiding him in.
Alice was leaning against the door with her foot back on it as she had her arms folded across her front. She was looking out the window. She was thinking. She then heard Riley's voice and tilted her head to look at him. Her body stiffened as he spoke. She looked like a statue and was silent. This was not good. This was really not good. She didn't answer. She stayed silent as she then looked at the ground.

;D "Ow oh please stop doing the break test seriously doc i get it. It's broken....ow..." The doctor tapped at Riley's toe before he got his reply. The doctor was doing the tap break test. If it hurts just to tap then its broken. The doc turned around and told Riley he needed some x-rays to confirm the damage done. He smiled and said thank you. He turned to Alice. He sensed that she wasn't happy about him asking her out. He stared into her deep brown eyes and spoke. "It's ok Alice. I understand if you don't want to go out with me that's perfectly fine. I thought that there may have been someone else considering that beautiful girls like you often boyfriends. Thanks for helping me anyway." He spoke softly and it sounded like he really didn't mind.
The doctor came back into the room and said that Riley was scheduled for his x-rays in 5 minutes. The doctor gave him a needle to help numb the pain in his foot before they took him in. Riley turned once again toward Alice and smiled. "As long as we can still be friends?" He asked jokingly. not long after the doctors came in to take Riley away for the x-rays. "Ok then I guess this is it. You don't have to wait for me. It's ok." he smiled as he was wheeled away.

Alice stood still, her statue like figure leaning weightlessly against the wall. Why was she still here? Why was she still leaning against the wall. She had her chance to leave. But she just had that feeling like she couldn't. She had a little more explaining to do with some things. Not great things, just the small details. She avoided his gaze as she looked through the glass window of the door that showed the hospital corridors. She then heard Riley's voice and hesitated, but turned to face him. She listened to him. She nodded. Explaining to him about there being someone else would be easy ... if she was going to mention it. "Well ... turns out you're right." was all she decided to say about her love life.
As the doctor came in, she relaxed as if ready to leave. Her foot dropped to the ground and her arms dropped to her sides. She looked at Riley. She hesitated before smiling. "Sure. Friends." she managed to choke out. She nodded. "Alright. See ya then." she said. She walked down the opposite direction in the corridor, heading towards Carlisle's office.
i'd say this is CLOSED !
