Well, I'm sure you'll tell me you got nothing to say, But our voices shook hands the other day, If you can't see the thin air what the hell is in the way? It was cool and even raining slightly- nothing unusual, given the town's inclination towards showering overcast weather on him. Not that Jonathan Ainsley minded in the least- one of the most convenient things about Forks was that the weather was always, always, with barely any exceptions ever, cloudy. Even so, he was sitting on a tree stump in the shade of the forest. Jon liked to think that one of the first necessary things after settling into a new town was exploring his surroundings, though of course La Push was a very bad idea. He didn't want to cause some kind of mass vampire/werewolf war with his presence- nobody needed that. Still, right now he was in the Rainforest, which was, as far as he knew, some kind of no man's land, and finding out what was where seemed a very good idea. All in all, the Rainforest was just like any other, and the experience seemed as though it'd be quite boring, but Jon was a thorough kind of guy- well, vampire, rather. His eyes had started to darken slightly from their healthy golden hue, but no dark circles were apparent under them yet. No, right now all that could be outwardly discerned was that instead of being a rich and clear topaz, they were slightly muddier, almost at a sort of half-way point, even. Dressed simply, but well (because after his meeting with Bella Swan, it had become apparent to him that big-city clothing was unwelcome), he made a rather striking figure, even if he looked a little brooding. Actually, the only thing that was really on his mind was the notion of perhaps hunting for something later. Admittedly, being around so many humans at school and in town was taxing, but he was so controlled in his hunger now that he barely noticed it- just barely. Still, sometimes it built up, and it was at those times that the handy animal came in useful. He was quite sure now that he had a good feel for where he was, and could navigate easily through the forest, so after sitting for a few more moments, he contemplated heading back to his abode, but then a sound reached his ears and his back straightened- he was instantly alert. He looked around out of his peripheral vision, but could see nobody, and so turned so that he was looking at the spot that his back had just been on moments before. Very slight, but not complete relaxation suffused through him as he saw who it was- Alice Cullen. He only recognized her from occasional sightings at school, but knew well enough that she was one of his kind. He even went so far as to offer a slight smile, and a nod in greeting. "You surprised me," he stated simply, reflecting that he must have been quite immersed in thoughts of hunting if he'd missed hearing her approach. Then again, she was probably light on her feet- they all were. "I think I'm more surprised to see you in the middle of nowhere, though." After a short pause, he added, "I'm Jonathan Ainsley, by the way. Call me Jon, if you like." He swivelled on the stump so that he was actually facing her properly.

Alice was one little vampire that lately had been a wanderer. She had been so many places in just the past week! This wasn't really like her, but she hadn't really been herself lately. Especially after that small 'row' with Edward the other day. That turned out bad ... and strange. Alice felt bad, so she felt like she just had to stay out of the house for a few hours. She was running. She wasn't up for a drive anywhere, she didn't know where she was going. So there was no point wasting fuel. So running was her given choice. Where to? Anywhere, she didn't care. Even if it meant our of their border. But she was careful with that. There needed to be peace among vampires and werewolves. Alice and her family already had a lot of their plate.
Alice stopped running for a moment and just stood still for a certain amount of time. Her eyes were closed. After moments as a statue her eyes opened and she found herself running towards the Rain forest. Something she'd seen there had caught her attention. As she made it to the Rain forest, her great speed slowly into a normal walking pace. She moved more graceful than a ballerina as she made her way through the forest. She stopped, her eyes caught on a figure. This was obviously what she'd seen.
It didn't take long for them to spot her though. She stared at him. She'd seen him from school a few times. As he smiled and gave her a nod, she merely returned the greeting with a slightly smaller smile and half a nod. She looked at him. "Yeah i seem to have that effect on others." she replied, a sly smirk formed from her lips. She looked around. "Doesn't really feel like nowhere." she said simply, turning back to him. She fell back a few inches so that she was leaning on a tree. "Well hi Jon. I'm Alice." she said, though she knew he knew that already.

Well we all stumbled round tangled up in the cords, From our phones, V.C.Rs and our worldly woes, Ah ha ha! March on, march on, march on, march on! Well, march on! He watched as she showed him a smile infinitesimally tinier than his own, and less of a nod than the one he'd given. This was hardly unusual behaviour, he surmised. After all, from what he knew, the Creeds and Cullens didn't seem to be very fond of each other and this, of course, made him a sort of suspicious in-between vampire. It wasn't a very convenient time for him to be in Forks, to say the least. Still, he was determined to remain neutral to some extent, at least until he knew for sure what was going on. A nagging feeling that he was leaning towards the Cullens didn't escape his notice, though, but he quashed it in favour of being completely objective in the matter, at least for now. That wasn't to say that he wasn't partially at fault for the not-tense, but not completely open atmosphere that lingered, either. Jon had always found it easier to get along with humans than with his fellows- he suspected that other vampires found it the same. After all, humans were so...simple and easily charmed. Of course, their natural instincts made them stay away at first, but once he engaged a mortal in a conversation, he found that they became friendly and even awestruck within moments. It was just the way things were- humans were just much less complex than vampires. He didn't mean to be condescending with his thoughts, but there was so much more going on in the heads of the undead- so many more things to consider than what was for breakfast the next morning. Jon looked at Alice again, drawn from mulling over the differences between vampires and mortals by her voice and the smirk that played across her lips. "Oh, well yes, I'd think so. We do seem to have the upper hand on humans when it comes to stealth." No pretenses here- they both knew what the other was. He paused, though, after this, remembering that she'd said 'others' and not 'people'. So she could surprise vampires, too? He could have understood a one-off thing, but it was hard to manage it regularly. Must have been something to do with her 'unique' talent, perhaps- that was the only conclusion he could come to. Asking about it, though, and confirming his suspicions once and for all, would be rude, so he left it alone, because impropriety was something to be abhorred and not indulged in. "Surprise is a good thing, though. Well...sometimes, anyway." He actually gave voice to a little laugh as, quite melodramatically, the short vampire before him looked around, before coming to the conclusion that where they were didn't look like they were nowhere. "Again, you're right. I guess that nowhere is really nowhere, if you think about it." A polite nod came about when Alice said hi to him, and with a smile, he echoed her. "Well hi, Alice." His smile grew a fraction wider, as he added, "Alice Cullen. I have to say, you're the first Cullen I've met since I got here- not that I've been around Forks for very long." He refrained from saying something like 'nice to meet you' because, of course, he didn't know that yet. It was here that he realized he was still seated, and she was standing against the tree. The latent nobility in him sparked up, even after all these years, and he stood for Alice, finding out for the first time as he did so just how completely he towered over her. "Haha, sorry- did you want a seat? I'll even sacrifice my tree stump for you." It was an odd statement, but his tone of voice was amused as if to show it was a joke- although he was serious about giving her the seat if she wanted it.

Alice's mind was racing around a few things. Edward's threat over what she'd seen. Her whole discussion with Bella. What she'd been seeing about Bella's life lately. It all rotated around the same thing, Bella. Bella had been the subject of a lot of things lately ... it was just like that now. Alice had no problem with that. She did, however, have a slight problem with Edward's attitude towards her. Sure she'd been expecting it ... but it still bothered her. The bribe didn't help much, it was merely a way of forcing her mouth shut. That she would try to do, as long as she could. She would try to keep quiet about it for as long as she could manage, unless she was harassed by someone about it, then she would fight through it.
Alice looked at Jon as he spoke. Her smirk reappeared, wider than before. There was no surprise with his sentence. Of course she knew what he was, with her gift of sight or not ... and of course, he knew exactly the same ... what she was herself. "Well, upper hand hardly comes as a surprise." she added. Their vampire qualities, alone in appearance, made them very different to humans. They stood out when it came to that ... though they still fit in. She was looking down at the ground. Tracing the patterns of the dirt with her eyes before looking back at Jon. She smiled. "Surprise is hardly something i come across myself." she said. Which was true. With her talent, surprises were really surprises to her.
That was two things she was right about in the last few minutes. She smiled to herself with that. Could she make it three? If it came then she did, she wasn't going to force another. She looked at him. "So you haven't met anyone else? Not even Carlisle?" she asked. Of course, Carlisle would have mentioned something ... or would have. So it wasn't really a surprise she was the first. She then gave a soft laugh as there was silence for a few moments before he suddenly stood up. She'd seen that coming. She looked up at him. She looked up at a lot of people ... she was still very small. She smirked. Already looking up to him she was suddenly sitting on a tree root from the tree she was leaning on, looking even higher up to look at him. Her movement was very fast, almost like time had frozen while she moved from leaning against the three to sitting down. She sat on the ground a lot. She'd taken note of that. "I think it's alright to say that you get to keep your tree stump." she said, smiling.

Don't stop breathing, The walls have just begun to spin. Just let the water calm you this time, It's all around you, just open your eyes and take a look. It will never kill you; not this time.A small hint of a half-smile tugged at the corners of his mouth when Alice Cullen began smirking widely at him again. It seemed they had an understanding- both vampires, of course, and both aware of it. "Haha," he laughed softly and naturally, "No, you're right, the upper hand for our kind is to be expected." Jonathan looked at her, then- yes, to a trained eye it would be hard not to know what the two of them were. She was beautiful, of course- he would have expected nothing less for a vampire. Still, there was a pixie-like quality about her looks that made her seem impish, and mischievous, even. He found that made her easier to associate with, for some reason, so when she spoke again, the attention that he paid to her words made him wonder for a few seconds. "Oh? Why is surprise something that you hardly ever come across? I would have thought that even we...are surprised sometimes." He stopped for a few seconds and inspected the ground like she had done a few moments ago, resisting the urge to run his hand through his hair as he thought about what she'd said. Finally, he looked up at her again and asked politely, "If you don't mind my forward attitude, erm...what is it exactly that you can...do? From what you've said, it seems like you are possessed of a talent of sorts." He raised one dark eyebrow slightly and affected a slight, but effective shrug when she asked him whether or not he'd really met anyone else yet and looked at him. She probably knew better than him. "Nope," he told her simply, accentuating the sound of the 'p'. A pause ensued in which he eyed her curiously, trying to remember who Carlisle was and why he was noteworthy enough to have been given a special mention. "Carlisle is your...'father', right?" He asked, his amused tone of voice putting its own quotation marks around the loose term of 'father'. "Well, no, I haven't met him. I considered dropping into the hospital to pay him a visit- he is Dr. Cullen, isn't he? Anyway, I thought that'd be a little too conspicuous, so I just decided it best to wait. Small town, after all. Bound to run into a Cullen sooner or later." He gave a small smirk of his own at the thought of his slightly flawed logic, but had no chance to make further comment, because within a split second she was sitting atop a tree root, a safe distance still from him and his stump. She moved very quickly- even for a vampire. His eyes, accustomed to such speed, though, managed to follow her as she moved. A small hint of a broad smile crept across his face when she seemed to crane her neck to look at him, and he chuckled once, very lightly. "Well, you're gracious. Thanks for the tree stump, but I think I'll pass." Two could use quick movements. He was by her side in an instant, no doubt in his mind that she would not be startled by the movement, since she was so swift herself. Gingerly and gracefully, he lowered himself into a sitting position opposite her, looking quite amused. "After all, I suppose if we're going to talk, we may as well do it face to face." Knowing the nature of some vampires, he hoped that she didn't mind his sudden close proximity or get defensive like a few others would, but rather wondered if she would take it well. "So, how long have you been here? Here, being Forks."

There it was. The third right she had made in those last few minutes. She lips curved into a smile as she thought about it. She looked at him. The obvious qualities of a vampire was the breathless beauty. Both Alice and Jon had that, Alice being told so many times or just by looking. She looked at her hand, that was smoothly, mindlessly tracing the lines on her other hand. She looked up at him, smirking. "I'm probably the most hardest to surprise out of anyone in the world. It's always been something that's been a part of me, since i became a vampire." She sat quietly as he took some time to think through what she was talking about. She gave a simple grin as he then spoke. He was getting the idea. "What i can do is very different compared to my family. Useful and very helpful ... but there are times i wish i regret having it ... but then i regret wishing that. The future isn't written on stone ... it changes. I've seen many things that have changed." she said, seeing if he was understanding what sort of talent she was talking of.
Alice seemed pleased she was the first Cullen Jon met. After all, Bella's first Cullen was Edward ... and many other people would of met Carlisle before any other. So Alice seemed content that it was her turn for the first hand. She smiled and nodded. "Yes, Carlisle is indeed my father. And yes, he is Dr Cullen." she said, with a small laugh. "In a town this small you'd be bound to run into anyone." she said. Which was true. You are highly likely to run into someone you would never think of meeting, or were waiting to meet.
Alice was known to be more graceful then a ballerina. She was very fast, even for her ... it helped being a small vampire. But her height made her have to look up a lot, seeing as everyone seemed so much taller for her. But that was just her, she was short ... she didn't care, no one else seemed to either. It never bothered her. She smiled. "Suit yourself then." she said with a slight shrug of her shoulders. She noticed the amused look on his face after he was sitting down opposite her. If no one could of guessed they were of same species before, they could now ... the speed was a dead give away. "Sounds pretty fair then." she agreed. She sat perfectly still, like most vampires could. She was statue like. But she was slightly moving, with the breathless breathing slightly moving her body. She looked at him, showing no negative emotion at all. "In Forks? Hmm ... a while now. With how we live our lives it'd be slightly hard to notice time changes. But it hasn't really been that long." she answered simply.

Speak up. My ears are growing weary. I’ll sing this to the end. And watch the waves crash over me. Jonathan watched Alice's nearly ethereally beautiful face for a few moments as she gave a mysterious smile, his gold eyes intent. She was obviously pleased about something, unless she was just smiling for the sake of being able to give expressions that would stun normal humans into worshipping her. He leaned back slightly and tilted his head from side to side until his neck gave a satisfying crack, before glancing at the way she was fiddling with her hands. It was odd, how most of the vampires he'd ever met seemed to have so much energy that the only way to vent it was through small, continual movements- they were a fidgety species. He raised a questioning eyebrow, though, paying attention as she smirked and decided to speak. Interest welled up in him to the point that it probably would have been emanating in tangible waves from him whilst he listened, his suspicions near confirmed. "So, your...ah, ability...kind of means that nobody will ever have the upper hand in an ambush over you, at least?" He asked, trying to keep polite and refrain from prying. He had a feeling he just about knew now, though, and this made his interest, if anything, increase. Respectfully, though, he allowed her silence as she mulled over her thoughts, and nodded at last once she'd finished. "You're a seer," he stated matter of factly, smiling very broadly at the idea. "I've never met one before- hang on." He paused, eyeing her with curiosity. "That's how you knew where I was, right? You must've seen me." He gave a good natured chuckle when Alice confirmed what he'd said about Carlisle. "Ah, right. Well who knows? Maybe I'll get myself hurt and be in need of his assistance, or something." His mouth twisted up in a rakish half-smile as he contemplated how unlikely that was, and he let loose another short laugh at her comment about Forks. "You're right, you're right- I'm surprised I don't know everyone here by name yet. Still, small towns are probably better for us. I've had my fair share of city living, and it gets hard to keep up after a while. I'm also surprised that I haven't bumped into any of the other Cullens...though, in a way, I'm sort of glad I met you first." His white teeth flashed brilliantly as he gave a grin. "You've been very welcoming of a strange new vampire- are you the nicest of your family?" It was a joke of a question, though he did mean it when he implied that she was very nice. Jon paused in thought for a moment, glancing at a rock that lay on the ground a few feet from him. Unintentionally, he focused on it, and the will that he directed at it caused it to surge upwards and hover about a foot over his head. He watched it linger there for a few minutes, a ponderous expression on his face, before letting it drop back to earth again and shooting an apologetic glance at Alice. "Sorry about that- I forget when I'm concentrating on other things," he stated, referring to his strange display of mind control. "If you hadn't guessed already, though, I guess that confirmed to you what I can do. I'm no prophetic seer, but telekinesis is a pretty useful gift to have too." Jon smiled again after Alice said that their arrangement for conversation sounded 'pretty fair'. "Yeah, seems fair to me too," he agreed, nodding and giving way to a slight smirk. He watched curiously as she morphed into a statue before him, his seraphic features slightly puzzled by the purpose of the activity. "Ah, I see," he replied simply when she answered his question about Forks. "Time passes pretty quickly for vampires," he agreed, nodding sagely, "But do you enjoy it here? I guess that's all that matters." He stopped there, wondering about the vampire before him's previous life. Who had she been? How had she become one of them? The questions were all in his mind, but he was far too polite to ask them. "Me, I've been wandering around the place for years now. I figure Forks is small enough to accomodate me for a few years, then I'll probably move on again," he told her, creating a diversion from his curiosity about her human life. From what he knew of himself, it would have been a painful thing to bring up.

Alice was face down but her eyes watched as Jon cracked his neck. She'd seen that a few times from members of her family. A lot of people would find the body cracking quite disturbing, it didn't bother Alice the slightest. It'd happened around her too much already. Her head rose, so her golden eyes were directly looking straight ahead. She gave a grin, her white teeth showing between her lips. "I guess that's one way of putting it." she said. Her grin then grew wider as he finally picked up what she was talking about. "Not your average palm-reading, card follower sort of seer, but that's what you'd still call me." she said, pausing as he spoke again. "Yes. That is exactly how i knew where you were." she replied simply. She had seen herself here, talking with him. That's why she was here.
She gave a short laugh as he made the gesture of him getting hurt. That would be something to see. It was definitely a laugh to think about a vampire saying that sort of thing. She then gave another teeth showing smile as he had said that very word twice again after the first three times. She looked at him, listening to his comments on small town life compared to big city life. She then smiled at his comment about her and her family. "Well, not including Carlisle and Esme ... then i'd probably say that i am the nicest." she said with a smirk on her face. She knew it was just a joke question, but it was fun to comment about that. She knew that Edward would have heard that if he was listening. She then watched him as he said at the rock on the ground, following his stare at the rock. As she turned to look at the rock it lifted. She saw this coming, just like she saw it drop as he looked back at her. She looked at him just as it dropped and smiled. "Telekinesis is definitely something someone in my family would want. Wouldn't really say who ... but i know one of them would." she said, a slight teasing tone in her voice as she thought about her family. She looked at him. "So don't go showing off that around them. They might get jealous."
Alice had the habit of her statue like figure whenever she was just sitting down, relaxed ... otherwise it was just tensing. She was completely relaxed, that was why her body fell still. She looked at him as he spoke and nodded. "Yeah i enjoy it here. There's a lot of space ... and privacy. Only thing that bothers me is the reserve." she said. Vampires and Werewolves were of opposite beings. And to have the two so close to each other, especially mixed in with mortals wasn't all that much of a good idea. But there was peace between them ... however long that would last though. She looked at him as he started to speak again. She nodded. "Yeah, that's the same with us really. Though there are a few things that make us not want to leave here now." she said. As she said it, her thoughts trailed off at Bella.

We're nothing but hollow vessels in search of what makes us alive. I never said this was my revolution when you looked me in the eye. Oh, how I've walked this white line so many times before. What a feeble attempt just to feel alive.Of course Alice wasn't surprised or perturbed by his neck-cracking and surprising dexterity- he imagined it was a habit of sorts among their kind. Certainly, the sound of cracking seemed to annoy some of his peers at school, since every few hours or so he would habitually flex his neck to loosen tension. A roguish little smile lifted his lips as she grinned at him- he was unable to stop it from appearing, since hers was so contagious. "Hmm, another way of putting it," Jon searched for the right words, and came up with, "You have premonitions of the future, and are possessed of foresight. That more accurate?" He listened to her words about palm-reading and card interpreting with barely disguised distaste for the mortal practices- human forms of trying to see the future through crystal balls and such were faintly ridiculous. Amusing, but really quite stupid. "Well damn. Here I was hoping that you'd be able to read my palm," he joked, chuckling as he imagined her doing just that, "But it looks like I'll have to find some other gifted vampire to do that for me." One of his dark eyebrows shot up when she confirmed his guess about how she'd located him, but he shrugged. "I'm not complaining- I'm happy, actually. Now I have someone to talk to." A very nearly vampirish grin stretched across his handsome face after that statement. Jon was pleased to hear Alice's graceful, melodious laugh as she obviously caught the joke in what he'd said about needing to pay Carlisle a visit. It was ironic- he was near indestructible. Even Alice, sitting before him and looking so fragile and small in comparison to him, was unbreakable. He could jump from the Tower of London (and, really, he had, several years ago) and walk away without so much as a scratch- indeed, he probably would land square on his feet. "Not including Carlisle and Esme?" He asked, resisting the urge to laugh again. "Well, in any case, I'm still glad I ran into you first- or, rather, you saw me first, before any of the others. It's a comfort to know that you're the nicest in your coven...excluding Esme and Carlisle." He assumed that Esme was Carlisle's wife, but was happy nonetheless that the vampire girl before him had taken it upon herself to respond to his joke. A dry chuckle escaped his lips as Alice commented on his talent for telekinesis. "Ah, well...no questions asked about this particular person in your family, eh? I'll just make a mental note so that I don't make whoever it is envious. Assuming I get to meet the rest of your family at some point in the near future, which I hope I do." Here he gave another tight grin as he reflected on the teasing tone which she'd been using. It was a surprise to him that they were getting along so well already (as well as could be expected)- he'd met many vampires before, but none of them had been so very easy to befriend (if he could assume that). Perhaps all of the Cullens were like that- it was a good prospect. On a whim, he looked at her once more, noticing yet again the golden tone of her eyes. Something clicked in his mind, and he asked, "So, anyway, do you...feed from humans? Your eyes say you don't, but I'm just curious. Forgive me if I'm prying." He gave another easy smile after this, as if in apology in case he'd offended her. "I noticed there's a lot of space around- and shade, we need shade too." He chuckled, picturing a vampire coven walking down a busy street in the sun. Not a pretty image. The laugh died, though, at the mention of the reserve, and was replaced by a curiously hard look in his topaz eyes. "Ah, yes, the reserve," he said, in an oddly flat voice, thinking of the werewolves who lived just miles away with some amount of disdain. "I heard rumours of bears crawling around through the woods, but then I investigated- within our...well, your border, mind you, and well. There's no mistaking the smell of dog." It seemed that all vampires shared a natural dislike for werewolves, their intended enemies, but here, surprisingly, there was peace, and Jon found that he liked it. Not having to think about hunting down wolves, and vice versa. "Still, you have some sort of treaty, right? That's good." He dropped the subject a little as Alice began speaking of leaving Forks. Curiously, he looked up at the tree cover after she'd finished, thinking about what could make the Cullens 'not want to leave now'. It dawned on him a moment later, and he asked a little incredulously, but still in an accepting tone of voice, "Humans?"

Alice's visions were based on decision. If the person changed a decision about something, the whole vision would change based on that decision. Usually it changed a fair few times but then there were those times that the decision just stayed on one thing, therefore the future happened as seen. She smiled. "Yes, more accurate." she said, nodding. She then let out a laugh. Humans and their future seeing ways were much more crazy and irrelevant. They used toys, crystals, loud, clanging objects, cards, palms. It was all something a nut case would do. Well ... it just proved what nut cases some humans were really. "Well good luck with that. We're really hard to come by. You might have to go see a mortal 'seer'." she teased, smirking. She then nodded. As much as she loved her family, she just had the small feeling of wanting to talk to someone else as well. In her family, there were hardly any secrets ... with Edward reading minds and her seeing things ... it was hard to get by without someone knowing about it. But there was something she was keeping shut ... Edwards bribery with a car was a crime to her. But she kept quiet ... for now.
The thought of vampires and injuries was examined as a joke. Of course, for people like Bella, they were always worried about them getting hurt from something that couldn't even leave more than a scratch. Alice was very fast and small. Pain was something that came as often as surprises for her. She nodded and gave a little laugh at his comment. She was, of course, the more happiest member of the Cullens. She was always dancing around and full of smiles. She just acted like a little kid at times. She smiled. "Oh yo will, you're bound to run into them one way or another." she said, going silent for a moment while she thought. Her face then brightened up and she smiled. "Hey, how about next time we play baseball? You could tag along and play?" she suggested. There was bound to be a storm soon enough. Perfect weather for baseball. Alice was one little vampire that got along well with anyone ... as long as they returned that attitude. There were only few exceptions.
Alice's hand moved swiftly through her short, spiky, black hair for a moment as she brushed grass out that had blown from the slight breeze. Her body stiffened for a quick second as he asked if she feed off humans. Her eyes narrowed as she looked at him. She understood that he was just curious, there was nothing wrong with that. "No. I'm not one to feed off humans. I've always been that way. It's how i've been ... raised if you wanna call it that." she said with a simple shrug. She nodded. "Our home is nicely in open area just outside of town. We fit in here with it being not so sunny. But on those few days of sunshine we tend to keep out of eye." she explained. She looked at his face as she had mentioned the reserve. Werewolves had their boundaries, vampires had theirs. They were cautious not to cross the border. She then nodded. "Yeah, we have our treaty. We're doing everything we can to keep it too." she said. She looked down at her ground, her eyes narrowed. She was wondering if she was saying too much. Well ... no harm was happening now ... and she'd already started one topic. Her eyes glanced at his direction as the silence ended. She then slowly nodded. "Yeah. Well ... one in particular." she said. She wondered if she should of really said that there was one in particular that made her life different. Oh well. She had said it now.

I've got to be honest, I'm terrified to fly blind. I tried to disarm you I played this part a thousand times. The hunter's the hunted. I'm terrified. I'm open wide. Jon smiled a little bit as Alice agreed with his more detailed and, apparently more accurate description of her abilities and laughed at his comparison with human beings. There really was so much of a difference between the way humans did things and the way vampires did things. It was like as soon as the transition between mortal and vampire occurred, the human way of life vanished to be replaced by a whole new order of thinking. He remembered quite clearly being taken over by a vicious bloodlust at the start, but assumed that was natural for his kind. Past that, though, there was the ability to consider things much more deeply, past the superficial. That was a good thing, he supposed. "Yeah, wow, you're probably right. The chances of meeting another vampire gifted with foresight, or something like it, are next to nothing. Do you think we might be unique in our abilities?" He paused and thought on that for a moment, supposing that there were few enough vampires alive so that each of them could have their own unique talent. Her little tease drew a laugh from him, and he said, "Oh, of course. A mortal seer. I'm sure they'd enjoy trying to read my palm. It'd be an interesting experience." She seemed to agree with what he'd said about being glad that he'd met her. He wondered, did it get lonely, or boring for her, being around her family and only her family all the time? As she laughed lightly in reponse to his statement, Jonathan took the opportunity to examine Alice lightly. Small, yes- diminutive in comparison to him. He'd already noticed that earlier, though. As it were, though, he could imagine that her size (or rather, lack thereof) would assist her with what they'd just finished talking about- vampires and injury. She seemed as though she'd be extremely light on her feet, and the way she moved- well, what little movements he'd seen her make- was like she was dancing. He could almost imagine her pirouetting out of harm's way, weaving out of the path of danger. Well...whatever danger vampires could encounter, which was almost none. "One way or another, eh? I might seek them out, just to make a definite thing of it." He paused while her face lit up, and chuckled melodiously as she made her suggestion. Baseball for vampires? Brilliant- the opportunity for a catastrophe, but it sounded great all the same. An almost boyish grin flashed like lightning over his face, and he answered her, "Baseball, hey? Under what conditions do you play that? It'd be pretty loud, I think. But still, if it's okay with your family, I'd be happy to come along- you know, show you how it's really done." He shook his head and laughed after this statement, to show that he was joking and wasn't really that egotistical or competitive. "Thanks, too- it's nice of you to offer." Jon's apologetic look grew larger as Alice stiffened for a fraction of a moment after he asked about her feeding habits. He'd been presumptuous, thinking that he was in a position to ask something like that after just meeting her. Things like that were...sensitive subjects, even he knew that. He should have realized. He opened his mouth to say sorry or excuse himself for it, but she answered him. He had to admit that he was slightly relieved that she was not a human-feeder, even though he could have guessed that from her eye colour anyway. "Well, that makes the two of us. I'm strictly animals- a 'vegetarian' by our standards, I guess. Wish I'd been raised that way, though." His face twisted in an expression of regret as he added, "I had to learn the hard way." The change of topic pleased him, so he launched into it with enthusiasm and a charming smile. "Just outside of town sounds nice- guess that means you have a lot of space." Then the treaty came up, and he forced himself to relax from his briefly tense state at the mention of werewolves. Once he was sure he wasn't going to accidentally rip the trees out of the ground by their roots accidentally, he managed to even give a light, superficial laugh. "It's good that there's a treaty, so that werewolves and vampires can keep to themselves. I won't do anything...you know, stupid to affect the treaty, while I'm here." His eyebrow furrowed slightly at the mention of one particular human making the family stay, but all he said was, "Oh. Uh..." He trailed off, unsure of whether he should ask after their identity, before curiosity overtook him and he threw caution to the wind. "Who?"

Alice looked at him and laughed. "Exactly. There's not many vampires around with special abilities. It's like one in every twenty or something." she said, smirking. Vampires with special abilities were only small numbers. The Volturi were exceptions. They were a fairly large group with gifted vampires. Alice laughed. "Yeah that'd definitely be a sight for them. Something to enjoy i'm sure." she said. She looked at him. She smiled and nodded. "Sounds fair enough. Just be careful what you think around Edward then." she grinned. "We play baseball when there's good storms. Up on the hills." she explained. She then laughed. "Think you're so good at baseball aye? Well ... we'll see." she said, laughing. She was feeling comfortable hanging around another vampire. One that she didn't usually talk to a lot or see all the time. It was a change. It was good.
Alice could tell that Jon was sorry for asking such a personal question. It didn't bother Alice so much so that's why she answered it. She wasn't surprised to see that he wasn't surprised by her answer. Obviously he noticed her eyes. She looked at him and listened. "That must of been hard to do." she said. She was always raised to be a 'vegetarian'. There was no doubt about that. She then nodded. "Yeah. A lot of space is good. There's a lot of trees and all where we live too. Keeps things hidden. She then looked at him. "Yeah. As long as they don't do anything ... we won't do anything." she said, with a shrug of her shoulders.
When Jon had asked who it was that made a difference in the way they lived, Alice looked down at the ground for a moment. Should she really tell? Would it be a crime. Her mind was racing around Bella and she didn't notice that while thinking about her, she said her name. "Bella Swan." she said softly.
